Rush of climate diplomacy ahead of Glasgow summit

President Joe Biden today met virtually with leaders of the world’s major economies, asking them to sign on to a pledge to slash methane emissions and commit more money to help developing countries deal with climate change. It’s the latest in a flurry of diplomatic efforts aimed at securing tangible results at the next UN climate summit that’s six weeks away — a summit that the UN secretary general told the Reuters news agency this week was at risk of failure, due to mistrust between developed and developing countries.
