Royal refugee turns to soul

The World

J.P. Bimeni is a descendant of the royal family in Burundi, but when civil war broke out in 1993, Bimeni fled the country and was granted refugee status in Wales. He was 15 at the time and soon after his arrival, he was taken shopping for records for his birthday. That’s when he discovered the music of Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye and Otis Redding. Now, he’s released his second album called “Give Me Hope.”
