“Boris sends gunboats into Jersey.” That was the headline on a number of British newspapers today, as a row between Britain and France over fish took an ugly turn. Britain deployed two navy patrol ships to the island of Jersey last night, following news that 60 French fishing vessels were on their way to block the island’s port. This morning, France sent two of its patrol vessels to Jersey waters. Our Europe correspondent Orla Barry explains what’s behind the latest stand-off.
