Researchers used AI to help solve a tricky bacterial infection

Acinetobacter baumannii is a thorn in the side of medical professionals everywhere, infecting wounds, lungs and kidneys. It sticks around on surfaces for much longer than most bacteria and has a high fatality rate if an infection takes hold. The World’s host Marco Werman interviews Jonathan Stokes and Gary Liu, two researchers from McMaster University in Canada, about how they used AI to help develop a new antibiotic to tackle these infections.
