Remembering Pierre Mambele

The World

Pierre Mambele was a reporter’s first stop in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, for decades. He served as a driver, guide, and friend to many foreign journalists over the years until he died this week at the age of 74. Host Marco Werman speaks with Mambele’s old colleague, former New York Times West Africa correspondent Howard French.
