Douglas Rain, the actor who was the voice of HAL 9000 in Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey,” has died at the age of 90. The Canadian actor was a classically-trained Shakespearean for most of his professional career, performing for 32 seasons at the Stratford Festival in Ontario. Fittingly, it was the festival that announced his passing on Monday.
