Remember Chicano folk singer Jesús ‘Chuy’ Negrete

The World

We hear a tribute to a treasured folk singer from the South Chicago neighborhood: Jesús “Chuy” Negrete was often called the “Chicano Woody Guthrie.” He was beloved in the Mexican American community across the country. He passed away this spring at the age of 72.  Earlier this week, a remembrance was held in Chicago. WBEZ’s Linda Lutton has this story about Negrete’s life and music.
