A decade of war and recent earthquakes have reduced parts of Syria to rubble, leaving the monumental task of restoring and rebuilding for the Syrian people. A new study shows this process can happen faster through recycling. Scientists say that concrete rubble from toppled buildings can be reused to make new concrete. John Provis, a materials scientist at the University of Sheffield in the UK, talks with The World’s host Carol Hills about how this can be done.
