 Abortion has been legal in Italy for 40 years now. But according to a group of gynecologists, access to abortion is decreasing now. A big problem is that a growing number of Italian doctors are refusing to provide abortions in public hospitals. Italian law allows them to declare themselves conscientious objectors. We hear from Silvana Agatone, a gynecologist who is leading an effort to push the Italian government to address this barrier to access.
