In the Central Asian country of Kazakhstan, an unprecedented wave of protests is unfolding throughout the country. The protests started as a result of a drastic spike in gas prices but have resulted in major upheaval. The president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, declared a state of emergency.
