Nigeria reels from mass kidnappings

In the state of Kaduna in Nigeria’s northwest, gunmen stormed into a rural town and rounded up 287 children and kidnapped them to the forest nearby. The circumstances of this kidnapping are different from one four days ago when rebel Islamist militants kidnapped around 200 women and children elsewhere in Nigeria’s rural north. The World’s Marco Werman talks with Philip Obaji Jr., a correspondent for the Daily Beast who is based in Nigeria, about what’s behind this recent kidnapping and what it means for state security in the country.
