More than 40,000 votes were cast and now the results are in. The yellow-eyed penguin, the hoiho, is New Zealand’s 2019 Bird of the Year. It was a hard fought election, full of trash talk and vigorous campaigning. The World’s Sarah Birnbaum reports.
