New investigation reveals rising risk of bat-borne diseases

A recent investigation by Reuters identified more than 3 million square miles across 113 countries that they dubbed as “jump zones” — areas where there is heightened risk for bat-borne diseases “spilling over” into human populations. Many disease outbreaks have been attributed to bats over the years. Dr. Neil Vora is a physician by trade and pandemic prevention fellow at Conservation International, and he speaks with host Marco Werman about why bat-borne diseases are an increasing threat to people.
