Military courts in Myanmar convicted Aung San Suu Kyi of corruption today. This increases the likelihood that the pro-democracy icon, now 76, will spend the rest of her life in prison. Suu Kyi was the country’s political leader until February 2021 when the military ousted her in a coup and locked her up, accusing her of a slew of crimes. The corruption charges bring her total sentence to 11 years, but she’s facing charges that could bring on a prison term of more than 150 years. The World’s Patrick Winn speaks with host Marco Werman from Bangkok.
