More tourists travel to Russian Arctic National Park

The World

The Russian Arctic National Park was created in 2009. Now, ten years later, Russia opened a new tourist center on Guker Island, which is part of Franz Josef Land. They’re trying to attract more tourists and, so far, have booked a few successes: Today the first cruise will arrive on Guker Island to visit the tourist center. Host Carol Hills speaks with Alexandra Kabanikhina, the head of the environmental education and tourism department of the Russian Arctic National Park.
