Gerry Marsden, the former lead singer of the British band “Gerry and the Pacemakers,” died yesterday at 78. His family said he died of an illness not linked to COVID-19. Marsden popularized the song “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” which remains the anthem of the Liverpool Football club. In the day or so since Marsden died, tributes have been pouring in from the likes of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, the mayor of Liverpool Steve Rotheram, and many others.
