Kyrgyzstan’s president resigns 

In the two weeks since parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, the country’s whole political infrastructure has gone into a whirlwind. Protests stormed the parliament building, election results were annulled, the capital Bishkek went into a state of emergency and on Thursday, the country’s President Sooronbay Jeenbekov stepped down, saying, “I do not want to go down in Kyrgyzstan’s history as a president who shed blood and shot at his own citizens.”
