The emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah, died on Tuesday at the age of 91. Sheikh Sabah, who was dubbed as the “dean of Arab diplomacy,” was considered a staunch ally to the US and has steered the Gulf state’s foreign policy for more than 50 years. Host Marco Werman speaks with Kristin Diwan, a senior resident scholar at the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington, about the late emir and how his passing could affect the region.
