This week, Kenyans are mourning the recent death of former President Mwai Kibaki, who led the country from 2002 to 2012. He leaves behind a mixed legacy. Many see him as Kenya’s “gentleman politician,” who helped supercharge the country’s economy and development. But that legacy is marred by ethnic violence and corruption. As Kenyans prepare for an upcoming presidential election in August, they are revisiting his legacy. The World’s Halima Gikandi reports from the capital Nairobi.
