When we first began hearing about the coronavirus, one of the centers of the outbreak was in Japan. Technically, it was off the coast of Japan, on a cruise ship, the Diamond Princess. But it’s only now that Japan has declared a state of emergency. Patrick Winn, The World’s Asia correspondent, has the story.
