Called the ‘Sardines’ in reference to the thousands packing squares across the country, often holding images of the fish, it’s a protest against the far-right politician Matteo Salvini, who’s aiming to win a key regional election next month. And the Sardines have taken Italians by surprise by how quickly they’ve spread. From Milan, the BBC’s Mark Lowen reports.
