Israeli soldiers entered the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank on Thursday in a raid against suspected Palestinian militants. Israel said the targets were members of the militant group Islamic Jihad, but at least one civilian was also killed in the shootout that followed. This was the deadliest single Israel Defense Forces operation in two decades, and more violence is expected.
