Is Ethiopia on the brink of civil war?

Last year, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work ending the 20-year territorial stalemate between Ethiopia and Eritrea. This week, he ordered troops to respond to an alleged attack on a government military base in the country’s Tigray Province. Hundreds have died and regional neighbors and the African Union are concerned that it could escalate into a civil war. Marco Werman speaks with Michelle Gavin, senior fellow for Africa studies at the Council on Foreign Relations and former ambassador to Botswana about what is going on and why we should care.
