The United Nations created global standards for the use of force by police 30 years ago. Despite that, only 21 countries meet those standards — and those countries don’t include the US itself. A recent study from The University of Chicago finds that none of the police departments in the 20 largest US cities are in compliance with the minimum standards under international human rights laws. The World’s Rupa Shenoy reports.
