When Saddam Hussein was toppled in 2003, men wearing the thick black mustache modeled after Iraq’s autocratic ruler got out the shaver. Men with distinctive mustaches were assumed to work for the military or the intelligence services, which could get you killed at the time. Now, in a period of relative calm, the Economist’s Elise Burr says the mustache is making a comeback.
