China’s military, for the first time ever, sent an aircraft carrier within hundreds of miles of US soil last month, toward the territory of Guam. Pentagon officials speculate that if China invades Taiwan, the Chinese military will likely strike the heavily militarized island of Guam, simply to prevent the US from intervening.
