Each January, the world marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day — the day in 1945 when Soviet troops liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp. In Germany, the day has a heavier meaning embodied in the German post-war pledge of “never again.” But this year, there is a divide about what the pledge means. For some, it is stopping the rise of the far-right and, for others, it is ending what they see as a genocide happening in Gaza. Rebecca Collard went to three events, all using the slogan, “Never Again is Now.”
