Researchers in Tokyo have learned something new about the tardigrade, an eight-legged aquatic creature about a millimeter long, which may be the most resilient creature on earth. Host Marco Werman speaks with Thomas Boothby, assistant professor and researcher at the University of Wyoming, about a new Japanese study that explains the mechanism by which tardigrades, also known as water bears, are able to protect their cells from dehydration, living without water sometimes for years.
