Hong Kong’s chief executive, Carrie Lam, will be stepping down this summer. She is very unpopular with supporters of the protest movement. But they’re not going to be happy about her replacement, either. John Lee was Lam’s No. 2, and he has been one of the top officials in charge of the security crackdown in Hong Kong against anti-government protesters.
