Getting fuel in Sri Lanka takes time and patience

One month ago today, the government in Sri Lanka said that the country was nearly out of gasoline. Government employees were told to stay at home mostly and classrooms were shuttered. The country’s farmers and fishermen have also been feeling the pain, because they don’t have enough fuel to power their tractors and boats. Then, about a week ago, gas stations across Sri Lanka received their first new shipments of fuel. That’s been great news for the few lucky buyers who are able to get their hands on some. The World’s Carolyn Beeler saw this herself in person, waiting in line at a gas station in Colombo.
