When Nigeria confirmed its first case of coronavirus, local scientists were able to sequence it in 48 hours. That is days faster than usual. It’s a testament to just how much the field of gene studies is growing in Nigeria, which in the past had to send samples of disease and viruses to labs abroad. The World’s Halima Gikandi reports.
