For immigrants fleeing gender-based violence, asylum is not certain

The Biden administration is expected to lift a Trump-era pandemic restriction at US borders called Title 42. It allows US officials to expel migrants at the border, without giving them the opportunity to apply for asylum. And immigration advocates are waiting for President Joe Biden to deliver on another promise: to clarify the process for getting asylum, especially for people fleeing violence that they face because of their gender.
