Heavy rains and flooding have displaced 623,000 people across much of South Sudan since May. Higher-than-average precipitation in eastern Africa has pushed the Nile river to historic highs, flooding schools, hospitals and roads. About a third of the counties in South Sudan have been affected. As the crisis stretches on, humanitarian agencies report rising needs for food assistance and emergency shelter. Reporter David Lomuria visited a South Sudanese city near the banks of the Nile river and reports on the conditions there.
