Electoral council and political parties in Ecuador rush to prepare for unexpected early elections

In Ecuador, voters will elect a new president two years earlier than expected. The National Electoral Council announced that new elections will be held on August 20th, after President Guillermo Lasso dissolved the National Assembly last week by decree to avoid an impeachment vote.
