Ecuador creates new marine-protected area next to Galapagos Islands

The World

A large area of ocean northwest of the world-famous Galapagos Islands will now be off-limits to destructive fishing practices. The government of Ecuador has created a new marine reserve that it hopes can help save fish species from human activities. Luis Suarez is with Conservation International Ecuador, and he is part of a large coalition that has worked to get this protected area established. He joins The World’s host Marco Werman to discuss why this conservation project is so important.
