Friday is the start of Ducasse D’Ath festival. It’s a festival in the small Belgian town of Ath and a tradition that goes back hundreds of years. As part of the parade, 22 characters on floats go by each representing some type of historical or religious figure and one of these characters is called the Savage — it’s a white guy in blackface. Now an anti-racism group is petitioning to have it removed. The World’s Sarah Birmbaum reports.
