Day of silence in South Korea

The World

About half a million South Korean students are taking the Suneung, or national college entrance exam today. It’s so important that the whole country goes quiet — banks close, planes are grounded, and businesses open late to ease traffic and minimize distractions for students. Host Marco Werman talks to University of Washington PhD student, Janet Ji Young Lee, about what she remembers about this day growing up in South Korea.
