Costa Rica wins inaugural Earthshot Prize for their conservation program

The World

The Costa Rican government was one of the winners of the inaugural edition of the Earthshot prizes, organized by the British royal family. Costa Rica was recognized for its truly innovative conservation model that has helped stop the loss of the country’s tropical rainforest. Arturo Sanchez-Azofeifa has been studying its conservation program since it began more than two decades ago. Azofeifa, a professor of environmental issues at the University of Alberta in Canada, speaks to The World’s Marco Werman about Costa Rica’s innovative program.
