Greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere hit an all-time high last year despite a modest dip in emissions due to pandemic shutdowns, according to an annual update released on Monday by the World Meteorological Organization. Separately, the UN updated its forecast for additional emissions by 2030 based on carbon-cutting pledges countries have submitted through the Paris Agreement process and found “there has been progress but not enough.”
