China tightens its grip on Tibet

This week marked the anniversary of the 1959 uprising in Tibet. It was a failed revolt against Chinese rule that ended with the Dalai Lama fleeing into exile. Today, China maintains firm control over historical Tibet and its policies there have drawn a great deal of criticism.
