Chileans look to rewrite constitution

Exactly two months ago, protests erupted across Chile. For many, it was a reckoning with entrenched inequalities and a legacy of Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship. Most of the demonstrations were peaceful, but there was also vandalism. The president ordered in the military and enacted a curfew in the capital, Santiago. The UN has since accused armed forces and police of committing serious human rights violations. Host Marco Werman invites Catalina May, host of the Spanish-language podcast, “Las Raras,” back to the show to talk about the situation and some unexpected developments: the rise of community-based assemblies and an upcoming vote to replace the constitution.
