It’s been more than a year since Canada detained Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou at the behest of American authorities. In a move widely seen as retaliatory, China detained two Canadian citizens, Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig. Now, with Meng’s extradition hearing underway in Vancouver, a chorus of voices in Canada is calling to short-circuit the process with a prisoner swap. The World’s Sarah Birnbaum reports.
