Butterfly defenders killed in Mexico

Mexican authorities are investigating the deaths of two employees of one of Mexico’s largest butterfly reserves. One of the men, Homero Gómez González, was an environmental activist and well-known defender of the Rosario Monarch Butterfly Preserve in the Michoacan state. Mexico is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for environmental and human rights activists. Amnesty International Americas said twelve environmental defenders were killed in Mexico in 2019. Director Erika Guevara Rosas speaks to host Marco Werman about violence towards activists in Mexico.
