British musician protests Brexit

The World

Simon Wallfisch is a British cellist and vocalist. He protests Brexit by playing Beethoven’s Ode to Joy on his cello outside of Westminster every month. For Wallfisch, the fight to stay in the EU goes beyond his musical career, it’s also deeply personal. He recently earned his German citizenship. Under German law, he’s eligible for a passport because he’s the grandson of a German Jewish survivor of Auschwitz. Host Marco Werman speaks with Wallfisch about his Brexit protests, his heritage, and his dual citizenship.
