Boston Chinatown preschool addresses socio-emotional learning

The World

Children all over the world struggled with learning and developing social skills during the COVID-19 pandemic. Asian American communities were also hit with economic challenges, as well as a rise in hate crimes directed at them. One preschool in Boston’s Chinatown has developed a program specifically to help children develop social skills in a culturally relevant way. Heidi Shin reports in the first of a two-part series developed for a reporting fellowship from The Dart Center on Journalism and Trauma at Columbia Journalism School.

Do you support journalism that strengthens our democracy?

At The World, we believe strongly that human-centered journalism is at the heart of an informed public and a strong democracy. We see democracy and journalism as two sides of the same coin. If you care about one, it is imperative to care about the other.

Every day, our nonprofit newsroom seeks to inform and empower listeners and hold the powerful accountable. Neither would be possible without the support of listeners like you. If you believe in our work, will you give today? We need your help now more than ever!
