Blocking amateur radio signals from Cuba

Just as protests were heating up in Cuba, an amateur radio operator in Florida, Alex Valladares (W7HU), discovered that his ham radio conversations with operators in Cuba were being blocked. Host Marco Werman tells how a transmitter was able to jam popular Cuban communications frequencies, and how radio amateurs concluded that the culprit was in Cuba. Valladares tells The World that he’s hoping international radio authorities can get involved and free up the broadcast band in Cuba, so amateur operators there can speak with their friends in the US again.
