The Mosul University’s library in northern Iraq was known as one of the finest in the Middle East, before ISIS took control of the city in 2014. The battle to retake the city in 2017 practically destroyed the library. But since then, it has been rebuilt, and recently reopened to the public. Yasmine Mossiman was there for the reopening celebration, which represented a return to the arts and culture in a city devastated by war.
