Archbishop says he could have handled abuse allegations better

One of the Catholic Church’s most senior Cardinals and one of the four men who organized this week’s Vatican summit on clergy sexual abuse has admitted that he could have handled abuse allegations brought to him better and faster. Oswald Gracias, the Archbishop of Mumbai, in India, spoke following a BBC investigation that revealed claims he did not handle allegations of sexual abuse appropriately and — in one case of alleged child abuse — did not alert the police. The BBC’s Priyanka Pathak reports.
