Human activity in the Amazon has had many devastating effects for animals and people who call the rainforest home — and the impacts are global. A new study shows human-caused forest degradation has made large swaths of the forest become net emitters of greenhouse gases, making the forest as a whole a net emitter. To explain, Kris Covey, who authored the study, speaks to The World’s host Marco Werman.
