Aid workers struggle to get food and assistance into Sudan

In a two-part look at the situation in Sudan, The World’s host Jason Margolis speaks to people trying to alleviate the growing humanitarian crisis. Desperately needed assistance for more than 1 million displaced Sudanese is stuck at the country’s port on the Red Sea. Jean-Nicolas Armstrong Dangelser, the Sudan emergency coordinator for Doctors Without Borders (MSF), is in Port Sudan, and says the lack of travel permits is preventing aid workers from moving supplies. Meanwhile, Will Carter, Sudan country director for the Norwegian Refugee Council, who is in Sudan’s White Nile state, says the insecurity, despite a ceasefire agreement, is also making it difficult, if not impossible, to supply aid to residents.
